New News

Clarksville branch:
We have switched rooms for our Child Care Program/Child Watch and many of our fitness classes. Beginning Monday, August 17, 2015, our Child Care Program/Child Watch will be located in Room 112.

Most of our fitness classes (“Yoga”, “Active Core”, “Active Plus”, “Cross Training Lite”, “Zumba”, “Hodge Podge”, “Acitve Core”, “Mix-it-up”, “Boot Camp”, and “Line Dancing”) will be scheduled in Room 111.

Duplicate Bridge, Pinochle, and Karate will be scheduled in Room 110.

We will no longer be opening the “partitioned wall” between Rooms 111 and 112 to accommodate for YMCA activities whose attendance “outgrows” the size of the assigned room. If an activity attracts a larger crowd than the room can accommodate, we will ask the instructor to conduct a second (or third) session at a different time or day.

Chase City branch:
In a few weeks, there will be a reorganizing of the weight training room at the Chase City branch. We will be looking for (strong) volunteers to assist us in the re-positioning of several pieces of equipment. This reorganization of the space may allow us to obtain some additional pieces of equipment and to allow for a safer environment for those using the equipment. Please contact Taylor Newton if you might be willing to assist us. A date will be forthcoming (probably a Saturday).

Safety Request:
As always we ask that all members and guests who use the weight training equipment to consider:
1) Always replace any and all weights, bars and/or mats after use
(loose weight plates, dumbbells, and barbells can cause
accidents and/or injuries);
2) Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the weight room
area. Children between the age of 12 and 15 are permitted in our
weight rooms, but only under PARENTAL SUPERVISION;
3) Footwear must be worn while weight training or using the cardiac
machines… shoes, not flip flops, sandals, nor open toed
4) Equipment and machines should not be used for purposes other
than what they were designed for;
5) Please do not move fans from the wall locations…. if moved into
the training area, members could trip and/or fall over the fans or
cords possibly causing injury.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

We are looking forward to many new programs and opportunities for our members at the Mecklenburg County YMCA.

-Scott Worner-
CEO/Executive Director
Mecklenburg County YMCA
