HELPING YOU STAY CONNECTED
WELCOME TO THE Y
We’re an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
THE Y IS FOR EVERYONE
The Mecklenburg County YMCA is committed to servicing the communities within Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties. Our Mission: To Put Christian Principles Into Practice Through Programs That Build a Healthy Spirit, Mind and Body For All. At the Y, Strengthening Community is our CAUSE! At the Mecklenburg County YMCA, we offer a variety of programs, services and initiatives to insure that we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. Please visit each department page to find more information on specific programs.
What’s Going On At The Y?
SELF DEFENSE CLASS
Our first installment of a Self-Defense Class began on Monday, August 22! This has been a really “well attended” and “popular” class. Luther Jackson, our Karate Instructor will be starting another class beginning in late October. Classes will be conducted on Monday nights (6:00 – 7:00 PM). This class will run for approximately 8-10 weeks and will be open to any adult at any level. -Free for YMCA members – $30 for Non “Y” members. If interested, sign up at the Clarksville location.
We have 11 stationary bicycles at the Clarksville location! The “Cycle Room” is available for use at any time during the day, whether you want to take a class, or use the bicycles while watching a training video on the flat screen television. We are working on attempting to bring cycling to the Chase City location. We need a volunteer leader to “step up” and commit to teaching classes. Once we are able to secure a location for the class – this may become a reality!
Clarksville location: Stephanie Leichty teaches “Cycling 30” (High Intensity Class) on Tuesdays (5:30-6:00 PM) Sheila Galvin teaches “Cycling 60” Wednesdays (9:00–10:00 AM) & Thursdays (5:30-6:30 PM)

The “Fair Weather Bike Club’s” next adventure ride is in the “planning stages” for either Friday, October 14, 2016. Please contact Richard Pulliam: email@example.com if you are interested. The group normally meets at the Clarksville location of the Mecklenburg County YMCA and will travel to “High Bridge” in Prince Edward County (by car). The group will be enjoying the scenic vistas, followed by lunch. No Cost – open to YMCA members and “potential members”.
MECKLENBURG COUNTY YMCA ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
Asking for financial support is one of the “hardest thing” that a non-profit, charitable organization’s – Board of Directors has to do. This year, the Mecklenburg County YMCA set a goal of reaching at least $10,000 to supplement the purchasing of additional fitness equipment, and to bring in “new” and “vibrant” programs to our members (and to attract new members). Please consider donating to our 2016 Annual Campaign. If you have any questions, or would like to “give” a gift/donation please contact us at (434) 374-5858, or firstname.lastname@example.org Your “gift” WILL make a DIFFERENCE!
